Felt Art

I started sewing felt patches when I wanted some extra goodies to bring to a zine fest with my music comics. To keep with the music theme, I made a few well-known historical composer portraits. Several years later, I revisited felt as a contrasting creative outlet to music, making small pieces in a variety of themed categories that were easy to generate ideas from. While most of my music projects take months or even years to complete, my little felts each take a few hours to a few evenings, helping deliver small wins to get me through longer processes.

“Felt Nouns” Art Market Pop-ups

After creating so many of these little objects, I decided I ought to spread the whimsy out into the world and make them available for others to enjoy. Follow me on Instagram to get updates about local pop-up appearances in the Boston area where you can purchase a felt noun of your own. I also post some in my online shop.

Annual Felt Food Aid Fundraiser

Since 2022 I’ve run a small social media fundraiser every December using felt foods to raise money for various local food aid organizations. During a week-long tournament bracket, people vote their favorite felt through to the championship and are encouraged to donate to the highlighted organization. In return, they receive stickers and artwork from the felt lineup as thank-yous.
